What Should I Keep In Mind When Designing a Sign?

If you have never designed a sign, it might be hard to know where to start. While many signs have different purposes, there are a couple things you can keep in mind when starting the brainstorming process. The first thing to remember is your new sign has to be readable. Signs with a lot of text or colors with little contrast can be difficult to see, and ultimately the goal of any sign is to direct people to or from something using clear, concise verbiage. Also, you should consider how the sign advances your brand. When a company features custom-made signs featuring their logo and color scheme, it can help create a sense of professionalism in your space.

What Software Is Used When Designing Signs?

Once you have the perfect design sketched out or in your head, the next step is to create a file which is ready to print or can be used to create your ideal sign. If you aren’t experienced in design, this is sometimes easier said than done. Most signs, especially larger ones, require vector files. A vector file uses special software to create points on your image which can be scaled, meaning the finished product doesn’t lose quality no matter how big it gets. The best software for this type of work is Adobe Illustrator, but there are other vector design options on the market.
